Words to avoid using in E-Mail Messages
When sending email, there are some words to avoid your email as spam by the recipient's email client.
In the 21st century an incredibly high percentage of email is spam. Internet Service Providers, individuals, companies, etc., use email spam filters. Effectively these can help reduce spam and unsolicited email dramatically.
It is almost inevitable that you may accidentally use some of these words in your own messages, whether a personal or a business email.
Below is a list of a few words you may wish to avoid in your email communications particularly in your subject line. This list is not by any means an exhaustive as each spam filter uses its own rules and keywords:
- aging
- and more
- dear friend
- free
- guarantee
- important
- lottery
- medicine
- mortgage
- pharmacy
- pill
- property
- rates
- urgent
Spam filters use a variety of techniques to determine unsolicited email, those containing malware links, etc., one common technique scans e-mail subject lines or messages or various keywords and phrases.
The more an email contains such words or phrases, the greater the chance it is spam and may be either automatically deleted or moved to a 'spam' folder.
